Combine yarn and fabric scraps with wire and plastic bags to create your favorite animal! You’ll start by crafting a mammal to learn the basic techniques and on day two, you’ll apply these skills to sculpt birds. So, clean out your stash, bring old buttons, broken jewelry, and those ubiquitous plastic bags, and come prepared to be amazed at how you can transform “stuff.”

Bryant Holsenbeck began her art career as a basket maker and has since evolved into an environmental artist who creates large-scale installations documenting society’s waste stream. She has exhibited and taught throughout the United States and Australia and has received two North Carolina Arts Council Fellowships, a Project Grant, and an NEA Arts and Learning Grant. Her book, The Last Straw: A Continuing Quest for Life without Disposable Plastic, was published in 2018. As an independent studio artist, she creates books, birds, and animal sculptures from recycled materials.
