Learn the fundamentals of block printing in this fun introductory class! You’ll design and carve your own printmaking block and then use it to print on paper and a canvas tote bag. In the process, you’ll fall in love with the ancient technique of block printing.

What to expect:

  • How to transfer your simple design onto your print block.
  • Master the use of a Speedball multi-blade tool to carve your print block.
  • Learn how to ink your block and print on paper and fabric.
  • Leave with your unique handcrafted rubber block print to use again and again, a hand-stamped 14″x10″x2″ cotton tote bag, and several hand-stamped paper prints.

By the end of the class, you’ll have the skills and confidence to block print independently. Get ready to unleash your creativity and make your mark!

M. Theresa Brown is a dynamic and multifaceted artist whose work spans various mediums, from natural dyes to artisanal clothing and accessories. With a passion for blending traditional techniques with contemporary design, she transforms silk, wool, paper, and leather into stunning works of art. Her designs have been featured in top international publications like No Serial Number and Belle Armoire. Theresa has a line of instructional PDFs on eco-printing techniques and has taught widely. Additional Supply Fee: None! The $35 supply fee for printing paper and inks, a carving block, use of the instructor’s cutting mats and carving tools, and one cotton canvas tote bag is included in the cost of the class.
