Discover the art of crazy quilting in this beginner-friendly class! Learn how to create unique, patchwork squares using various fabric scraps and embellishments. We’ll cover basic techniques for piecing fabrics together with no raw edges, using either hand or machine sewing. No prior sewing experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm and creativity. By the end of the class, you’ll have a beautiful freeform quilt square and the skills to continue crafting your own one-of-a-kind pieces. This is a great way to repurpose fabric scraps and make something old, new again.

Joyce Lanterman, an Atlanta-based costume artist, has been sewing since her teens. She began with historically-inspired costumes in the Society for Creative Anachronism and later delved into Sci-Fi conventions. Her experience extends to theater and dance costumes, and she crafts impressive crazy quilt squares. Explore her work at Ultraviolet Costumes.
